Outlook provides you with the facility to access your Gmail account through Outlook. This article describes the process of configuring Gmail account in Outlook 2007, so that you can easily read your emails of Gmail account in Outlook. In order to access Gmail through Outlook, you need to make some modifications in Gmail settings. You have to enable IMAP option in your Gmail account. Consider the below given steps to enable IMAP in Gmail:

1. Click the Settings option after logging into your Gmail account.
2. Click the Forwarding and Pop / IMAP link and then click Enable IMAP.
3. Click the Save Changes button.

Now, follow the below given steps to configure Gmail profile in Outlook 2007:

1. Start MS Outlook 2007 and select Account Settings option in the Tools menu.
2. Select the Email tab and click the Next button.
3. Select Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP, or HTTP and click the Next button.
4. Click the Manually configure server settings or additional server types check box.
5. Click the Next button.
6. Select Internet E-mail option and then click the Next button.
7. Type your Gmail account name in the Your Name edit box.
8. Specify your Gmail address in the E-mail address edit box and then select the IMAP option in the Account Type combo box.
9. Type imap.gmail.com in the Incoming mail server edit box.
10. Type smtp.gmail.com in the Outgoing mail server (SMTP) edit box.
11. Specify your Gmail ID in the User Name edit box.
12. Specify the password of your Gmail account in the Password edit box.
13. Click the More Settings button and then select the Outgoing Server tab to modify the settings of outgoing server.
14. Select the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication check box and then select the Advanced tab.
15. Enter 993 in the Incoming Server (IMAP) field and then select SSL in the Use the following type of encrypted connection combo box.
16. Enter 587 in the Outgoing Server (SMTP) and select TLS in the Use the following type of encrypted connection combo box.
17. Click the OK button and then click the Next button.
18. Click the Finish button.

After you have executed above-mentioned steps, restart Outlook to start working with your Gmail account through Outlook 2007.
