PST Maximum Size
PST file gets damaged or corrupted,when PST file reached to its maximum size. When you are working with Microsoft Outlook 97, 98, 2000 & 2002 (XP), PST files are formatted in American National Standards Institute (ANSI) format, which limits the file size to 2Gb. From Microsoft Outlook 2003, PST files are using the UNICODE format which has a limit that is more than 20 GB.
